Nicholas Parsons

We sold our house in the Cotswolds in December 2004, and looked for a new home nearer London, to eliminate the endless driving we had been doing on ever more congested roads. Also the garden, which I loved and has been on television more than once, was becoming too demanding as I grew older, because of its size and high maintenance.

We searched for our new home throughout most of 2005. We had the disappointment and frustration of being let down no less than three times on properties we liked, but we are now settled into the lovely Buckinghamshire countryside in a converted barn.

The garden has slowly been created out of the plot of land at the front and rear of the house, and now we have a mature garden, which I endeavour to maintain between my many engagements. For me it is a real therapy.

I enjoy my garden, and I enjoy my work, which helps to keep me young. But most of all I enjoy being with my children and grandchildren, and of course the children my wife Annie has brought into my life. Between us we share nine grandchildren!

All my work, social and charity commitments could not be achieved at my age without the help of Annie, who not only undertakes all my secretarial work but also drives me to many of my professional engagements. She is deeply appreciated and much loved.
